Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This policy explains how SYIMI uses your personal information, in line with the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya.

Who we are

SYIMI, Riverside, Kenyatta Road, Kiambu, Kenya. Contact for privacy matters: syimilightingke@gmail.com.

What we collect

  • Your name, phone number and delivery location, so we can deliver your order.
  • Your M-Pesa payment confirmation details (such as the transaction code, amount and the phone number you paid from), so we can match payments to orders. Payments are processed by Safaricom M-Pesa. We never see or store your M-Pesa PIN.
  • Messages you send us on WhatsApp, email or Instagram.

Why we use it

  • To confirm, prepare and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
  • To handle returns, warranty claims and complaints.
  • To keep business and tax records as the law requires.
  • We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to send marketing unless you ask us to.

Who we share it with

Only those who need it to complete your order: our delivery staff and courier partners (they receive your name, phone number and delivery location), and our payment and messaging providers (Safaricom M-Pesa and WhatsApp). We share it with authorities only if the law requires.

How long we keep it

We keep your delivery details (name, phone number and address) for 12 months after delivery, which covers the warranty period and any follow-up, and then delete them. We keep the order and payment record (what was ordered, the amount and the M-Pesa transaction details) for 5 years from the end of the year of the sale, because tax law requires it, and then delete or anonymise it.

How we protect it

We keep your information on secured devices and limit access to the people who need it.

Your rights

You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for a particular purpose. Email syimilightingke@gmail.com and we will respond promptly.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC) of Kenya.

Changes

We may update this policy and will post the latest version on this page.
